I've been crafting like a fiend. I forgot to take pictures of all the Christmas ornaments I made. D'oh! But here are a couple of projects I've worked on recently.
I finally tracked down some freezer paper after looking all over town. I bought all the freezer paper Ace hardware had in stock (2 rolls) so I could make some stencils. Using fabric paint and freezer paper I created all these:
The one with the Lucky Duck (upper right corner) will probably be his coming home outfit...with pants, of course. These are all 0-3 months so I will be making some more in bigger sizes. It was a fun project.
My other Silhouette project for Baby Lucky is this set of 4 5x5 inch canvases to hang in his room. I made them using the Silhouette Fabric Interfacing. So cool!
I only had sewable interfacing, I suspect Clean Cut might have worked better for this. There is a little bit of fraying on the edges of the fabric but I kind of like the effect. I adhered the animals with Mod Podge. So far they have 2 coats of Mod Podge but they may need a couple more. I am pretty happy with the way they came out.
I have a lot more projects to do in the next couple of months. More to follow...

Crochet for baby
I've been busily working on a big new project which has been taking up a lot of my time and energy lately. Actually it's a teeny tiny project but it's getting bigger daily. It should take a total of about 9 months to complete and I expect it to be done around mid-April. Yep, I'm so crafty I can even make people. And in preparation for the arrival of our new little bundle I've been working on a few little projects...
I made this cute little sweater in Vanna's Choice Baby yarn in "Duckie". The color turned out to be a perfect choice because Miss E calls our baby "Lucky Ducky". J and I like to give our kids code names in utero so we don't have to refer to the mysterious newcomer as "it". This one is Lucky because s/he is due on Friday the 13th and is the 13th grandchild for one set of grandparents. Lucky seemed an appropriate moniker. The buttons on the sweater are little stars. It was a nice, easy patterns. I made it in one weekend.
I also made this afghan. It's the same pattern I used for Kate's blankie but this time I got the color scheme to work better so it really does give it a cute gingham effect. This is also done in Vanna's Choice yarn, the colors are Fern, Kelly and Lamb.
I've got lots of ideas for room decor. I'm waiting to find out if this little peanut is a girl or a boy before I get started on that stuff. Miss E has decided she wants to change bedrooms before the baby arrives so she will be getting new room decor, too. Between those projects and Christmas I've got lots of crafts to work on!

Hats!
I got a little burned out on afghan squares. I had to change things up a bit so I've been making loads of baby hats....not because I know loads of babies but because they are fast, easy and a good way to use up leftover yarn.

May BAMCAL squares
Apparently I didn't bother to post my May squares. Better late than never, I guess.
Here are my Block a Month CAL squares for May.
May 6" square: Uranus by Patrizia Pisani
This one was so quick I made two in one night.
May 12" square: I Love the V-Stitch by Dayna Audirsch
Somehow I managed to make two of these without realizing it. I guess I really love the V-Stitch. Well, I do like this square a lot. I think I prefer the second one ever so slightly.
May 12" Filler: Butterfly Garden Square by Chris Simon
I really like this square. I think it turned out really pretty with my kid blanket yarns But I will use this pattern again for a more sophisticated blanket in the future, I think. There are a lot of examples on Ravelry on single color squares that look really pretty.

J's birthday!
It's my wonderful husband's birthday! He left work early and went for a 45 mike bike ride - one mile for every year - and them can home where E and I were decorating his cake.
Mmmm...yellow cake from a box and homemade chocolate butter cream frosting. Delightful.
J is a pretty serious cyclist so it was a bike themed birthday. E and I gave him a supernerdy cool NASA bike jersey. He quickly dubbed it the best bike jersey he's ever seen. I made him this little bike sign, too.

I took an 8x8 canvas and painted a layer of white acrylic. I cut this cute bike out of vinyl using my Silhouette, put it on the canvas and then painted the whole dang thing with light blue acrylic. I purposely left it a little "rustic" looking. When the blue dried I peeled off the vinyl to reveal the white bike underneath. It has little heart on the chain and in the wheel - so cute! I found this great quote from JFK which I though J would like. I cut the quote out of brown vinyl and, using transfer tape (where would I be without it?) applied the lettering to the canvas. I sprayed the whole deal with Krylon matte craft sealer stuff. I love the way it turned out and J seemed to like it, too.

Blanket for Baby "Kate"
My S-I-L is expecting a baby girl in September! They are calling her "Kate" but we don't yet know if that will be her real name. I actually manage to get a baby blanket made before she was born (a minor) miracle)! I used this Gingham Blanket pattern from Bernat. I couldn't find dark pink coordinating yarn to actually achieve the gingham look so I used "orchid" instead. It's not really gingham but I still think it's very cute. The pattern was super easy; I will be using this one over and over, I think. It's made from Bernat Baby Coordinate yarn. It is super soft and passed the Miss E snuggle test with flying colors.
I hope Baby Kate will love it. I think it is one of the nicest blankets I have ever made.
