J's birthday!

It's my wonderful husband's birthday!  He left work early and went for a 45 mike bike ride - one mile for every year - and them can home where E and I were decorating his cake.

Mmmm...yellow cake from a box and homemade chocolate butter cream frosting.  Delightful.

J is a pretty serious cyclist so it was a bike themed birthday.  E and I gave him a super nerdy cool NASA bike jersey.  He quickly dubbed it the best bike jersey he's ever seen.  I made him this little bike sign, too.

I took an 8x8 canvas and painted a layer of white acrylic.  I cut this cute bike out of vinyl using my Silhouette, put it on the canvas and then painted the whole dang thing with light blue acrylic.  I purposely left it a little  "rustic" looking. When the blue dried I peeled off the vinyl to reveal the white bike underneath.  It has little heart on the chain and in the wheel - so cute!  I found this great quote from JFK which I though J would like. I cut the quote out of brown vinyl and, using transfer tape (where would I be without it?) applied the lettering to the canvas.  I sprayed the whole deal with Krylon matte craft sealer stuff.  I love the way it turned out and J seemed to like it, too.
